The far-right in North and South America, Europe or Asia is a phenomenon whose origins can be traced back several decades. The aim of this webinar is to provide information on the groups and ideas that can be found on the far-right, and how they have evolved over time. It will first discuss the difficulties encountered when attempting to define the far-right, as well as the heterogeneity of the movements associated with it. The webinar then examines whether it is possible to say that the far-right is on the rise in those areas, from the angle of a possible normalization of these ideas and movements. The webinar concludes with a discussion of prevention prospects and available resources.
Objectives:
Define the key concepts of radicalization leading to violence
Examine the definition of the far-right, and the common and distinct ideological elements of associated movements
Analyze certain factors that may explain the rise of far-right movements and ideas
Identify some prevention perspectives and available resources.
