Compulsory Masculinities

In this workshop, we will explore the ideals of masculinity imposed on the members of cultic groups. What makes a “good man”? How is he supposed to act, think and feel? What social roles may he occupy? What happens when one is not willing or able to conform to these expectations? Participants are invited to discuss the ideals associated with masculinity in their former group, the issues they encountered in that context, and how these norms have affected them in the short and the long term. This workshop is open only to former members of high-control or high-demand groups or relationships. It will be held in both English and French.
