What is coercive control?

12 h à 13 h (HAE)
Presented by Andrea Silverstone (CEO, Sagesse) and Carrie McManus (Director of Innovation and Programs, Sagesse)

Coercive control is a manipulative pattern of behaviors designed to remove an individual’s sense of personal agency and autonomy. While it’s commonly linked to domestic abuse, coercive control can also appear in workplaces, cultic contexts, and even within legal systems. By recognizing these signs and understanding the profound impact of coercive control, we can develop effective policies and support systems to safeguard individuals from psychological trauma and the erosion of their autonomy. This presentation explores the theory of coercive control, as well as how this concept may help break down barriers between different service providers for people impacted by abuse in multiple, overlapping contexts. This webinar will be given in English and will include a Q&A session.
