Life in Patriarchal Communities: Understanding Victimization
15 h 45 à 17 h (HAE)
Presented by Madeline Lamboley (Ph.D., professor of criminology at the Université de Moncton and Canada Research Chair in Sexual Violence, Prevention and Intervention) and Marie-Andrée Pelland (Ph.D., associate professor of criminology at the Université de Moncton, and president of Info-Cult).
This presentation will explore how, in certain cultic groups, patriarchal structures lay the groundwork for various forms of gendered violence. These circumstances will be compared with those in communities which practice honour-based violence, with particular attention to the risks of intimate partner violence, forced marriage, and sexual abuse. This webinar will be given in both English and French and will include a Q&A session.
